6. Seeing the potential and funding the energy transition
Transitioning from fossil fuels to alternative energy solutions will not happen overnight.
In fact, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency or IRENA - over USD 24 trillion of global investment must be redirected from fossil fuels to energy transition technologies.
Here in Southeast Asia - renewable power, grids and transition-related power technologies and infrastructure alone require over USD 5 trillion by 2050.

5. ExxonMobil's journey from rom oil to energy provider
The move to a lower-emission future requires multiple solutions that can be implemented at scale to address some of the highest-emitting sectors of the economy. This is where ExxonMobil says it is focused - leveraging its experience and long history of meeting vast complex challenges. Here in Singapore for example - ExxonMobil has embarked on a series of initiatives that have led to energy efficiency gains of more than 25 per cent since 2002. 4. Scaling Singapore's Sustainable Energy Future
By 2025, Asean aims to generate up to 23 per cent of its energy through renewable sources. South-east Asia is already home to several large-scale renewable power projects. Over the past few years, Singapore has increased its solar energy capacity exponentially - but this is only one pillar of the energy mix. 3. IRENA's Vision For Asia's Energy Future
The International Renewable Energy Agency is an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future. This year marks the second Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum which will focus on much needed investments in the region. IRENA has highlighted that by 2050, a total of US$33 trillion of additional investment—an increase of 30%—will be required to be on track for a 1.5°C pathway. Rachel Kelly spoke to Mr Francesco La Camera, Director-General, International Renewable Energy Agency to find out his vision for the energy landscape in Asia in 2050.
