Highlights:
(00:00) Intro
(00:52) You're the expert on this and you help a lot businesses get media coverage and they come from all sectors, all sizes, and different backgrounds. So when you look at some of the considerations on what make a good story to get into the media space, what is the most vital?
(01:50) If you take a step back, why should businesses consider getting media coverage instead of an advertisement or maybe just paying for paid content?
(02:57) If you look the events that businesses run. how difficult is it to get media coverage? What are some of the obstacles that get in the way when they want to pitch to media?
(04:13) Let's paint an example here. Let's say I'm going to launch a bubble tea shop next month, and I want my media coverage. I want it to appear on The Straits Times, Business Times and everywhere in the media. What should I be thinking of?
(05:56) When you look at the balancing act that you might have to manage - the business wants to say something but the media wants something else. How do you balance the relationship between the two when you might not get everyone on the same page?
(08:15) Talking about spokespersons, sometimes, they are not as media savvy as we hope for them to be and you get into a situation where you have a bad interview, having to salvage it. What's the best way to follow up if you have a spokespersons who does not execute his key messages or perform as well as you hoped? Is there a way to save a so-called bad interview?
(10:27) What are some of the typical mistakes that people or companies make when it comes to getting ready for a media interview?
(13:19) Just to wrap things up, when we have media coverage, how do you figure out the value of it? What is a successful media pitch or the type of quality of media coverage you're getting?
