02/10/23 - Money in the Market: More market stress ahead - Are we in a gloom loop?
In a dramatic step forward over the weekend, Washington saw last ditch moves to prevent a US government shutdown with Democrats overwhelmingly backing an eleventh-hour Republican measure to keep federal funding going for 45 days. The against-the odds deal to avert a shutdown is now soothing nerves across Wall Street, after a turbulent week of interest-rate spurred market disruptions.  But it looks like market stress is rising over a wild week ahead even without a shutdown.  Are we in a so-called gloom loop?  On Money in the Market, Hongbin Jeong speaks to Thilan Wickramasinghe, Head of Equity Research, Maybank Securities to find out how markets are faring to start the new week and what risks still remain ahead.

26/09/23 - Money in the Market: Is there an end in sight to China's property market crisis?
China's property market woes are going from bad to worse. A Bloomberg Intelligence gauge of Chinese developer shares fell 1.2% today, a day after dropping the most this year as the crisis at real estate giant China Evergrande Group entered a new phase. The developer scrapped key creditor meetings and said it must rethink its debt overhaul plan, raising the risk of a liquidation of the nation’s most indebted builder. So how can this crisis be mitigated? And what is the impact on regional as well as global markets? On Money in the Market, Hongbin Jeong speaks to Elke Speidel-Walz, Chief Economist Emerging Markets, DWS, to find out more.

25/09/23 - Money in the Market: Will MAS extend its pause on monetary tightening in October?
Singapore’s core inflation moderated further in August from a year ago. This reflected improvements to supply chains and lower import costs that give its central bank more breathing room to extend its pause on monetary tightening. Official data showed that core inflation, tracked by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to determine policy settings, came in at 3.4% last month. The measure, which excludes housing and private transportation costs, was lower than the median forecast of 3.5% in a Bloomberg survey of analysts. What does this signal for Singapore's economy moving forward?  And how might regional equities be impacted by Asian inflation more broadly? On Money in the Market, Hongbin Jeong speaks to Abhishek Vishnoi, Senior Asia Equities Reporter, Bloomberg, to find out more.

22/09/23 - Money in the Market: Is the era of the King Dollar back?
