Market View: To what extent can the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in China boost the country’s economy?
Investors are keenly watching the latest developments in China. Earlier, Beijing was rolling back to its Covid-19 control to better support its ailing economy. Quarantine period for overseas travellers, for one, had shrunk to 7 days from the 14 to 21 days previously. Digital travel passes will also no longer indicate whether a person has visited high-risk cities - further boosting domestic travels. But to what extent would such relaxation of Covid-19 measures boost the world's second largest economies? To what extent will a recent flare up of Covid-19 cases in eastern China throw a spanner in the works? In Market View, Prime Time’s Finance Presenter Chua Tian Tian spoke with Iris Pang, Chief Economist of Greater China, ING for more.

China's national legislature opened its annual session earlier this week in Beijing, with Chinese leaders attending the opening meeting of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress.
Premier Li Keqiang delivered a government work report on behalf of the State Council to the legislature for deliberation.

Is the Chinese Manufacturing Base Really Expanding?
Despite China's official Manufacturing PMI showing another month of contraction, the Caixin PMI gauge indicated signs of growth in China's factory output. ING's Economist for Greater China, Iris Pang, thinks that the volatility in the Caixin PMI's readings makes its state counterparts a little more reliable. She also touches on why they don't see a resolution to the trade war anytime soon.
