Morning Shot: Israel talks of a new phase in the Gaza war. What does that mean?
US President Joe Biden has urged Hamas to accept a new Israeli proposal to end the conflict in Gaza - one that would begin with a six-week ceasefire, more humanitarian aid, as well as an exchange of some hostages for Palestinian prisoners, with the deal eventually leading to a permanent "cessation of hostilities" and a major reconstruction plan for Gaza.
But, the next phase of Israel’s war on Hamas may shift focus to its northern border with Lebanon - as indicated by Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a recent television interview.
On this episode of Morning Shot, Dr Lincoln Mitchell, Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs shares his analysis of the situation.
