Mind Your Business: Batam, Bintan reopen, light at the end of the tunnel for ferry operators?
After two years of lull in tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the popular Indonesian holiday islands of Bintan and Batam have reopened their shores to leisure travellers from Singapore. Starting from 24 January 2022, international travellers can travel between Indonesia (the Riau Islands) and Singapore through a travel bubble scheme called Batam Bintan-Singapore (BB-S). Christie Joy, Sales & Marketing Executive, Sindo Ferry shares what Sindo has been doing to soften the impact of Covid-19 and the significance of the travel bubble between Singapore and Bintan/Batam on its business.
