Morning Shot: Will El Nino worsen the choking toxic air situation for Jakarta's neighbours?

Jakarta is currently the second most polluted major city - according to data compiled by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir.

It topped global rankings last week and has consistently ranked among the top 10 most polluted cities globally since May.

Associate Professor Steve Yim from the Asian School of the Environment & Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU Singapore weighs in on the persisting El Nino phenomenon, which has been blamed for Indonesia’s latest pollution spike in its capital Jakarta. Prof Yim is also Principal Investigator at the Earth Observatory of Singapore.
