Morning Shot: North Korea's Explosive Diplomacy
The United States has for the first time said it has seen evidence that North Korea has sent 3,000 troops to Russia for possible deployment in Ukraine, a move that could mark a significant escalation in Russia's war against its neighbour.
In the latest of developments, South Korea has summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul, to criticise Pyongyang's decision to send thousands of soldiers to support Moscow's war in Ukraine. This comes just a week after we heard reports of North Korea blowing up sections of the deeply symbolic roads connecting it to the South, with Pyongyang’s military vowing to permanently seal its southern border.
On this episode of Morning Shot, Oh Joon, Professor of United Nations Studies at Kyung Hee University shares his insights on the escalating tensions between South and North Korea.
