In The Spotlight: Using technology to weed out wildlife trafficking
Wildlife trafficking is the world’s fourth largest illegal trade after drugs, human trafficking and counterfeiting.
According to conservation group WWF - It is valued up to US$26 billion per year.
Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions says that a lot of the transactions related to wildlife trafficking are hard to detect because the payments involved are hidden within legitimate businesses and much of the trade is done in cash.
However, there are ways to use advanced technologies to flag activity that might be illegal.
Rachel Kelly speaks with Douglas Wolfson, director of financial crime compliance at LexisNexis Risk Solutions to find out more.
