Sustainable Singapore: SEA's farmers cite climate change as key challenge
Research by Agricultural Biotechnology company CropLife Asia has found that nearly 70% of farmers in the region’s largest crop-producing countries cite the impact of climate change as a key challenge. On Sustainable Singapore, Rhianne Lovell-Boland speaks to Tan Siang Hee, Executive Director, CropLife Asia who shares more on what this means for regional food production, food security and the availability of nutritious food imported into Singapore.

What can we do to meet the world's growing food needs?
According to the UN’s 2019 State of Food Security & Nutrition in the World research, some 820 million people did not have enough food to eat in 2018, up from 811 million in 2017 and represents the third consecutive year of increase, with over 513 million of those hungry people calling Asia home. In a move to address this global problem, CropLife Asia - a non-profit society part of a global federation representing the plant science industry - has partnered with the US-ASEAN Business Council and EU-ASEAN Business Council in 2019 to form the ‘ASEAN Safe, Nutritious Food Alliance’.
